Our Story

So, you know the movie, ‘Brown Sugar’? The one starring actors Sanaa Lathan and Taye Diggs where they were best friends since childhood and later realized they were each other’s soulmate the whole time and ended up falling in love? Yeah, that’s pretty much our story in a nutshell! But, here’s our version.

We were born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, and met in high school in 1995 (yikes!). I, (Meoshuh), was a freshman and, I, (David), was a junior. We became very good friends and laughed together about everything; much like we do now. After high school, we fell out of touch for a few years. We would later reconnect in the latter part of our college years and picked up right where we left off.

After college, we hung out all the time and progressed from being very close friends to romantically involved– and the rest is black history! We got married in August 2008, and the two greatest blessings to come from our union are our sons Donovan and Elijah. This life that we have built together has been paved with much beauty, countless blessings and innumerable life lessons.

As God has charged us with the assignment to create The Jackson Joint platform to impact marriages, families and communities, we have dedicated ourselves to this mission and aim to put our own unique, creative spin on everything that we do. We hope that you can find your place on this journey with us! Thanks for stopping by!

Our Mission

The mission of The Jackson Joint is two-fold: To promote wholeness within marriages and families as well as make an impact in the community. We provide content, resources and showcase live events and gatherings aimed at strengthening marriages and fortifying families mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally, financially and beyond. Also, because we see the family unit as the heartbeat of the community, we emphasize the importance of community service and create avenues for families to be of service and make a difference in society.

Seeing families win and live out their God given purpose for generations to come, is the goal at The Jackson Joint! Because we are allergic to boring, we utilize a variety of creative mediums to execute our mission. Continue to browse our site to learn more about how we do it!
